Focus Group In Cyprus

On the 11th of May 2017, the Cypriot Partners of ARTISAN Consortium (UCLan Cyprus and GrantXpert Consulting) organised the CY focus groups in the context of the IO2 - Empirical Study: Skill needs on family businesses in generational transition in the artisan and agro-tourism sectors.

The main aim of this activity was to examine the perceptions and viewpoints of different family businesses members by utilizing exploratory, descriptive and explanatory research. The qualitative methods employed for this activity include the organization of focus groups with a blend of families from different artisan and agro-tourism businesses. Great emphasis was given on the skills and knowledge needed nowadays by the senior and junior members of our target group in order to be able to perpetuate their cultural family businesses across generations.

The meeting took place at the Environmental Information Center of Larnaka Mountainous Area, Skarinou Village and lasted about 3 hours. We achieved to have 8 participants from the senior members of our target group (e.g. Λουκούμια "Τα Ωραία Λεύκαρα", S&K NUTRLICIOUS LTD, Larnaca District Development Agency, Makeart Design, women-artisans producing traditional foodstuff, etc) and 8 participants from the junior generation (Μύλοι Χατζηγιώρκη, Κτήμα Γεωργίαδη/ Golden Donkeys Farm, Food museum, Wineries, Lefkonitziatis Dairy Products Ltd)

All participants were impressed by the ARTISAN project and expressed their interest to participate on the Trainings that will take place in the following months
