Duca di Castelmonte.

Duca di Castelmonte is an agri-tourism located at the door of Trapani, on the field that Curatolo family has been owning from 1700 till today.

The family business is at the third generation, with the junior one, say Silvia Stella and Marta Curatolo, owning shares 50-50 and the older generations collaborating in the daily activities of the business.

Duca di Castelmonte is a very innovative and customer-oriented family business, it offers typical agri-touristic services, such as restaurant and accommodation, plus something innovative that allows to positioning better than competitors.

The business is one of the two faces of the same coin, the other one is the family; it has always been a source of innovation: take the decision of moving from the historic business of the family, the olive oil mill, to an agri-tourism, which is a completely different business model; is it not a very good example of entrepreneurial spirit?

This case was prepared by Silvia Rivulo and Prof. Salvatore Tomaselli Ph.D. from the Università di Palermo (Italy), as a partial output of the Artisan Project.
